Supporting Our Community

I have had the privilege of supporting a community project over the past few months by taking some photos of our mayor Les Armstrong and splash pad supporter Lance Hallman pictured above and also photographing a spaghetti dinner fund raiser which was a lot of fun in itself.  The project has just taken a significant step forward see the press release below.

Township of Wilmot, ON, – June 30 2013 –  After a record 629 nominations submitted by Canadians across the country, Kraft Canada and TSN announced their Top 20 communities tonight.  The Bring a Splash Pad to Wilmot committee was thrilled to learn that it was one of the 20 finalists selected for this summer’s biggest community celebration, the Kraft Celebration Tour.

The 20 finalists were chosen based on brief essays and photos describing how a $25,000 award from Kraft Canada would not only make a difference in the community, but also help improve or help create a new facility that builds strong social ties and promotes healthy, active living in the area.
“Now it’s time for current and former residents of the Township of Wilmot to vote for a free all-access water park in Wilmot Township where families of all incomes, and children of all abilities, can have the same access to an amazing Splash Pad where they can play together in safe, active and positive social environment for many summers to come!” said enthused Bring a Splash Pad to Wilmot committee Chair Angela Hallman.

The Bring Splash Pad to Wilmot committee is a volunteer driven organization that is passionately working to bring a new free-to-use public Splash Pad for the youth of the 14 small tight knit communities of Wilmot Township nestled in the heart of Southwestern Ontario.

As announced on Sunday exclusively on SportsCentre on TSN, the Top 20 communities have been paired up and will be narrowed down to 10 tour stops for the award-winning Kraft Celebration Tour through 10 days of head-to-head online voting from July 8 to 19.

The Township of Wilmot Splash Pad will be paired-up in head-to-head online voting on July 18, 2013  against St. James Town Youth Council, Toronto.  Voting for each match-up is unlimited and runs online from 12 noon ET each weekday for a 24-hour period.  Results of each vote are announced the following weekday on SportsCentre on TSN.
